Why do I occasionally hear noise or static at the beginning of a composition?

Occasionally you may hear brief noise or static when playing a WolframTones composition. This is the result of a bug in QuickTime 7.x and can be fixed by changing the MIDI settings in QuickTime.

1. Open QuickTime by going to Start > All Programs > QuickTime > QuickTime Player
2. Go to Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences.
   
   
   
   
3. In the QuickTime Preferences window go to the Audio tab.
   
   
   
   
4. In the Audio tab setting go to the drop-down menu in Music Synthesizer and choose General MIDI.
5. Click OK.
6. Close the QuickTime player.
7. Restart your browser.
