Troubleshooting Tips

What do I do if I have QuickTime installed, but nothing plays?

Check QuickTime's settings and make sure it is configured to play MIDI files in your browser.

  1. Open QuickTime and go to Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences.

Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences.
  2. In the QuickTime Settings window go to the top drop-down box and choose Browser Plug-in. If Browser Plug-in is not listed, please go here for more information.
  3. In the bottom of the resulting window click on the MIME Settings button. The other options on this screen will not effect how WolframTones uses QuickTime.

    QuickTime Settings > MIME Settings
  4. Find "MIDI file" under "Audio - Audio only file formats" and check this option. If it is already checked, un-check and re-check the option. This will cause QuickTime to re-register itself with your browser. The other MIME types on this screen can be ignored.

    QuickTime Settings > Enable MIDI
  5. Click Apply and then OK.
  6. Restart your browser.

If you are using Firefox on Windows and the above instructions don't help, you may be running into an issue with a corrupt plug-in file. Please go here for more information.
